Frequently asked questions
ISE is internationally recognized and valued by most financial institutions, auditors, industries and governments. ISE documentation leaves no unanswered questions or doubts regarding your goods. Our warehouses in Embrach enjoy an excellent worldwide reputation and meet the highest security standards. Thanks to their high sensitivity, our GD/MS analyses provide a decisive advantage for high-technology industries. Our valuations are based on two databases containing more than 20,000 prices, available on our website in real time. Our SKRs can be accessed electronically via QR code and verified by ISE personnel, making them tamper-proof. As part of the ISE network, you are never alone with your decisions and your metals.
As a seller, this means that your goods are stored in an ISE warehouse and your complete documentation has been prepared by ISE.
As a buyer, this means that you have completed an initial transaction with an ISE client and established yourself as a qualified buyer.
No. ISE conducts independent analyses and valuations.
A partner could not do this independently.
Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (GDMS) is a proven technique for the quantitative determination of trace and ultra-trace elements in metals, alloys, semiconductor materials and many other solid samples. Its high sensitivity and low detection limits allow even the smallest impurities to be detected reliably, a decisive advantage for many high-technology industries.
The Institute for Rare Earths and Metals does not buy or sell metals. Our core business is the storage, analysis and valuation of high-purity metals and rare earths. Our clients include both buyers and sellers, and we are happy to connect them.
No. ISE cannot guarantee the intentions of third parties, and past success is no guarantee of future results. Storage and documentation of your goods are undertaken at your own risk. We can only guarantee secure storage, flawless internationally recognized documentation and that we will do our utmost to connect you with a buyer.
No license is required to determine prices for goods that are not traded on an exchange, but clear rules apply. A price is established when at least six price indicators are available within a three-month period; their average forms the price. If fewer indicators exist, the smallest tradable unit, sometimes one gram or one metre, is used. Pure-metal prices can be extrapolated linearly, while metal-product prices are calculated on a degressive basis. Our databases currently display more than 20,000 daily updated prices, with some histories dating back to 2011. This breadth makes the ISE offering unique online.
The “Metals” database contains around 1,000 prices for pure metals, all of which can be extrapolated linearly.
The “Metal Products” database contains around 19,000 prices for manufactured metal products. Their price development is not linear but degressive: the larger the total purchase quantity, the lower the price per unit.
Our documentation is accepted by most banks. We cannot provide a formal guarantee because individual institutions have different requirements, but rejections are extremely rare.
For security reasons, we cannot provide complete sample documentation because we have repeatedly encountered misuse and forged documents.
We will gladly show and discuss the complete documentation during a video call. You are also welcome to visit our office in Lucerne, where you can review it in detail.
